At least 1,000 persons suffering from different types of eye diseases drawn from various communities in Zangon Kataf and Jaba Local Government Areas of Kaduna state have benefitted from free eye operation sponsored by Hon. Sunday Marshal Katung, the member representing Jaba/Zangon Kataf Federal Constituency.
Speaking during the exercise in Zonkwa, the lawmaker said the free eye operation is to enhance the health status of Nigerians who may not have the means to do so.
“This project targets at least 1,000 people; it is a programme that will continue until every other indigene in my constituency with eye problem is diagnosed and treated free. I have been doing this before I joined politics. You cannot live in a community and not be part of them,” Katung said.
One of the beneficiaries who spoke to Daily Trust at the General Hospital, Zonkwa, Zangon Kataf Local Government Headquarters, Haruna Musa, 77, said he has been suffering from glaucoma for more than two years and cannot afford to pay a bill of 40,000 Naira charged for the operation in one hospital. He thanked the sponsor for the free operation.
